Current Sensing
for Industrial Applications
Know
your power... because with knowledge comes control.
When your job is to control motors, heaters, lamps and other
electrically powered loads, you need accurate, real-time status
feedback. Until recently, the traditional approach to this
monitoring problem has been to use optical sensors, zero-speed
switches and pressure switches. But these devices can be both
expensive and unreliable.
Now NK Technologies offers you better solutions. Our current,
voltage and power sensors give you that critical feedback with
all the speed, simplicity and dependability you want and need.

AC & DC CURRENT TRANSDUCERS

VFD and SCR output waveforms are rough
approximations of a sine wave. There are numerous spikes and
dips in each cycle. ATR transducers use a mathematical
algorithm called "True RMS," which integrates the actual
waveform over time. The output is the amperage component of
the true power (heating value) of the AC current waveform.
True RMS is the only way to accurately measure distorted AC
waveforms. Select ATR transducers for nonlinear loads or in
"noisy" power environments.

‘AG’ Series sensors from NK
Technologies protect people, products and processes from
ground faults by monitoring all current-carrying wires in
grounded single or 3-phase systems.
Operating Principle: Under normal conditions, the current in
the hot leg of a two-wire load is equal in strength but
opposite in sign to the current in the neutral leg. These
two currents create magnetic fields that are also equal but
opposite. When the wires are next to each other, the fields
cancel, producing a "Zero Sum Current". If any current leaks
to ground from one wire (Ground Fault), the two currents
become imbalanced and the result is a net magnetic flux or
field. AG Series ground fault sensors monitor this field and
alarm when leakage rises above setpoint. This concept
applies to grounded 3-phase delta and wye systems.

Patented Autophase technology actually corrects common
wiring errors. Analog and network models available. Click on

The AutoPhase Advantage
AutoPhase makes power transducer installation simple.
There are over 40 ways to wire up a 3 phase, 4 wire kW
transducer. For example, reversing the orientation of a CT
flips the output waveform, tricking ordinary watt
transducers into thinking there is a 180 degree phase shift.
Or if CT and voltage inputs are mismatched, the transducer
thinks there is a 120 degree phase shift. Either way, you
have a problem.
AutoPhase identifies the phases and polarity automatically
and corrects for the error in software. This eliminates
flashing "ERROR" lights, tedious and dangerous reconnecting
of inputs. AutoPhase even tells you which CTs are reversed
and which phases are mismatched!
AutoPhase is protected by US Patent 5,652,505
