Quartzlock
specializes in the design, manufacture and supply of Accurate
Frequency and Time Sources. In particular, they employ Hydrogen Masers, Rubidium, GPS, Off-Air
(LF) Frequency Standards and peripheral products. These include
instruments, components and systems.
Quartzlock provides both standard
'off the shelf' components
and systems, as well as special 'designed to fit' solutions.
their engineers will be happy to
hear of your special requirements and get your products to
market in a timely and economic manner.

The Passive and
Active Hydrogen Maser Frequency Standards and associated
instruments are available through Quartzlock. These units
have been built in substantial quantities for the last 30
years and form the major time scales in Germany, Brazil,
Spain, Japan, Russia, China & the UK. The instruments are
manufactured outside of the United Kingdom and exported to
Quartzlock, where they are tested and prepared for delivery
to both domestic and European customers. Additionally, by
special request, the performance of the instruments can be
independently certified by the NIST, USA. PTB Germany or NPL,
UK. This relationship essentially makes this very excellent
technology available in the West.

A10 Series Rubidium
Frequency Standards: Oscillators & Instruments
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
A Rubidium frequency standard owes its
outstanding accuracy and superb stability to a unique
frequency control mechanism. The resonant transition
frequency of the Rb87 atom (6,834,682,614 Hz) is used as a
reference against which an OCXO output is compared. The OCXO
output is multiplied to the resonance frequency and is used
to drive the microwave cavity where the atomic transition is
detected by electro-optical means. The detector is used to
lock the OCXO output ensuring its medium and long-term
stability.
Quartzlock have developed a range of Rubidium components and
complete instruments. One of the advantages conferred to the
user is the ability to be able to mix and match component
with instrument, ensuring the correct quality oscillator is
married into a suitably sized instrument, with the
appropriate number of outputs.

A3 SERIES
QUARTZ FREQUENCY STANDARDS: OSCILLATORS & INSTRUMENTS
2A
Series LF Tracking Receiver Frequency Standards
A5
Series Distribution Amplifiers
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
The Quartzlock range
of distribution amplifiers are intended for use when
multiple outputs from a single frequency standard/generator
are required. This may be encountered in engineering labs,
national standards labs, research and development,
calibration labs and production. This is vital for the
distribution of signals from other precision frequency
standards like Hydrogen Masers, Cesium oscillators

A6
Frequency Converter
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
The Quartzlock model
A6 Frequency Converter precisely changes either 5 or 10MHz
sinewave signals to a number of other frequencies from 1Hz
and 1pps upwards to other standard frequencies.

A7
Frequency and Phase Comparator Measurement System
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
This new system
comes complete with its own internal time interval counter
and sophisticated PC software providing the user with real
time graphical representation of frequency & phase Allen
variance. The user can see from the continuously updating
display the performance of the device under test
instantaneously. This reduces the time wasted due to
incorrect configuration or poor performing devices.
Also this instrument is the only one
truly Hydrogen Maser compatible, most other systems
performance for noise floor and phase noise are not
compatible with such premier timing sources.

A8
Series GPS Time & Frequency Standards
|
|
 |
|
|
 |
The Quartzlock model
A8 series are unique within their price range because they
perform extremely high-resolution carrier phase measurements
for each satellite being tracked. The A8-B can operate with
1 satellite only. This enables the extraction of stable and
accurate frequency information from the complex signal
format. This leads to a frequency resolution, which is
better than the C/A code tracking - used in all normal
equipment - by a factor of 10,000.
A built in micro phase stepper enables the 1PPS output to be
adjusted in 1ns steps over a range of +/- 500ms. This
provides adjustment to calibrate out delays due to
Ionosphere, antenna and cable delays to achieve a
significant improvement in UTC (GPS) from the Quartzlock A8
series.
The resolution of the A8-B is so high that the frequency of
the local oscillator can be measured to 1×10-11 in less than
1s. This allows ultra precise tracking of the reference. A
typical output stability in 10s measurement time is 1×10-12.
By performing carrier smoothed high-resolution evaluation,
the model A8 series are able to make either range or time
measurements far exceeding that possible with code-only
detection receivers. The model A8 series are able to detect
almost instantaneously any local oscillator frequency
excursions and make gentle corrections. The short-term
stability is therefore well controlled even with a simple XO
as the slaved oscillator.
The use of a double conversion down-converter close to the
antenna reduces signal frequency without losing any phase
coherence by using a precise reference frequency derived
from the receiver. This enables longer cable runs and less
timing uncertainty than would be possible with a simple
antenna pre-amplifier.
One of the main advantages the model A8 series possesses
over most navigation engine based receivers, is that its
design is dedicated to time and frequency applications. The
use of entirely standard low-cost non-application specific
component parts makes maintenance and lifelong support of
the model A8 is easier and certain.
Due to the world class accuracy of the Quartzlock model A8,
there exist many applications: The calibration of counters,
timers, radio test equipment and all quartz based
instrumentation within standards laboratories, time
transfer, OEM, the referencing of radio transmitter
frequency including quasi-sync systems, the synchronisation
of telecom systems including Stratum I and II GSM, PCN base
station commissioning and reference unit, a time scale
correction to the UTC, Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) and
Digital TV.
